The Baltimore Oriole is a beautiful orange and black migratory bird found in eastern North America. Its name refers to the resemblance of its colors to the colors of Lord Baltimore's coat of arms. It is the state bird of Maryland and the namesake of the Baltimore Orioles baseball team.

The oriole's details (eye and claws) were painted on with enamels and fired in a kiln - the paint will not scratch or wear away. It will look best when hanging in a window and has light from behind, but could also be hung on a wall. The appearance of the colors will change throughout the day as the light changes!

The panel is constructed using the Tiffany copper foil technique and has a zinc frame. A black patina has been applied to the front of the frame and solder lines. Two rings are soldered onto the back of the frame for hanging and a chain is included. Please do not hang from a suction cup as the panel will probably break if it falls.

The panel is a 10.5" x 10.5" square. The height measurement does not include the rings or the chain.

Stained glass is constructed using lead solder but it is safe as long as you wash your hands after handling. To clean, use a soft cloth.
